FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
12-29-07: After almost a decade of teaching online for free through CITY-o-Clay it's time for me to sell off the items made while creating tutorials. There'll be raw polymer clay canes, jewelry, mini food - both raw and cured platters, sculpture, and mixed media items. My "chop and toss" will also be featured so you can make "natasha" beads of your own.
After years of doing free online webcam demos, using colors, designs, and subjects that were picked by the ClayMates, I'm eager to create things that speak to me. Therefore, commissioned orders are not going to be offered at present. It'll be a situation where if you like it, you can buy it.
Some of the directions I'm interested in going are multi-media, OOAK Art Dolls, puppets, mini scenes and room boxes. Some of the styles I want to explore are Day of the Dead, Goth meets CyberPunk, Harajuku Girls, Urban scenes, and the like.
There's still a lot of work to do in learning how to use mals-e.com as a shopping cart. I still need to get down to City Hall to apply for a business license. I did go to a seminar for Sales and Use Tax Basics with the California Board of Equalization.
Until I get my business license, publish a DBA in a legal publication, get the pictures and "buy it now" buttons set up, organize the shipping area here at home, this section will be a work in progress. When it's ready for Prime Time I'll link it to my home page.
It's a slow process and I've made effort over the years to get this set up and I'm glad I put it off until now. I feel ready to do this now. I've built my brand, created name recognition, have a website that offers tutorials for free, bringing regular traffic. These three things could only have happened over a period of time. New vendors might have a nifty website and wonderful products, but without a brand, name recognition, and regular traffic, they have an uphill battle to get noticed.
So that's the story morning glories... if you've stumbled over this web section while I'm building it now you know what's going on.
